HENGELO – Rymax Brand Ambassador Timo Heuver has secured the prestigious championship title for his Dutch motocross team, JP Xtreme Xperience. During the final race of the Dutch Masters of Motocross championship last Sunday, he clinched the 85cc title. Timo Heuver achieved this feat by winning decisively in front of a large audience on two occasions. His victory in the first race already secured the championship for him.
On Sunday, April 21, the Markelose Motor Club (MMC) organized the final race of the Dutch Masters of Motocross championship.
The competition was fierce in every class, determining the champions. It was a magnificent day in Markelo, Overijssel, for riders, teams, and spectators alike. All classes were represented: the 85cc, 125cc, 250cc, and finally, the premier class, the 500cc.
Each class underwent a twenty-minute timed practice session to determine the starting order. Following this session, there was a brief start training session to practice with the machines. The practice sessions commenced at 8:30 a.m. with the speedy riders from the 125cc class. By around 10:30 a.m., all timed practice sessions were completed, and everyone prepared for the races starting at 10:45 a.m. There was a total of eight races, as each class had two heats scheduled.
Champions
The races kicked off with a gate full of beautiful roaring two-stroke machines as the 85cc class opened the program. Timo Heuver was the clear favorite for the championship in this class. He convincingly won the previous race on the first matchday in Harfsen and finished second overall in Oldebroek. In Markelo, he more than lived up to his favorite status. He won convincingly twice, securing the Dutch Masters title after just one heat. An outstanding achievement for both the team and the rider.
The Rymax Lubricants sponsored JP Xtreme Xperience Team, led by Jasper Groot Roessink, was also active in the 250cc category, with three riders: Sander Agard-Michelsen from Norway, Ruben Koskamp, and Thijs Schröder. Sander secured a respectable fourth place, while Ruben and Thijs finished 30th and 34th respectively.
The most winning MXGP motocross star Jeffrey Herlings put on an impressive and thrilling show for his home crowd. He fell in the first race but came back strongly to finish third. In the second race, he led from start to finish, adding another Dutch Masters of Motocross title to his collection.
With this race day, the Dutch Masters of Motocross season 2024 came to a close. The championship organizers delivered three magnificent events with large audiences, spectacular races, and significant international participation.
