International Sales Manager

Zevenaar | 40 hours | International Sales | B2B

A place on the world map is not just a country to you. It is a business opportunity.

How big is the market? Where is the growth? Which segments are interesting? Does our current distributor have the capacity to actually develop that market? Where are we leaving sales opportunities untapped? And what do we need to do to have a much stronger position there three years from now?

These are the questions you will be working on as an International Sales Manager at Rymax Lubricants.

You will be responsible for a number of international markets and distributors and have one clear mission: develop them.

Not just by selling more, but by building sustainable businesses and stronger market positions together with our partners.

What will you do?

As a Sales Manager, you are responsible for the strategic and commercial development of your countries and distributors.

You analyse markets, create growth plans, visit distributors, discuss results, identify new opportunities and challenge partners to look beyond what they are already doing today.

More specifically, you will:

  • be responsible for sales growth and commercial development within your markets;
  • create and execute annual Country & Customer Growth Plans;
  • analyse market potential, competition, segments and distribution structures;
  • agree on concrete sales, marketing and growth objectives with distributors;
  • actively look for opportunities in new product groups and market segments;
  • manage margins and use commercial conditions to drive growth;
  • conduct regular business reviews with distributors;
  • stimulate local sales and marketing activities;
  • support customers in professionalising their organisation, market approach and commercial strategy;
  • develop new distributors and commercial structures where the market requires them;
  • work closely with your Account Manager, Marketing, Finance and Logistics;
  • represent Rymax internationally during customer visits, training sessions and trade shows.

The goal is not simply to sell a customer a little more oil every year. We expect you to understand why a market is growing or why it is not growing and then determine what is needed to change that.

You don't just sell. You build markets.

A good Sales Manager at Rymax looks beyond the next order.

Perhaps a distributor mainly sells passenger car motor oils, while there is an interesting market for commercial transport, agriculture or industrial lubricants in their country. We expect you to investigate that opportunity, put it on the agenda and help develop it.

And when an existing distributor simply cannot reach a certain part of the market? Then we are also prepared to look at other solutions. But always based on a solid plan and an overall strategy developed by you.

New business is part of the job

In addition to developing existing markets, we expect you to actively create new opportunities. You do this together with our Business Development Manager. You take the lead in researching potential new markets, and your input enables your colleagues to get to work effectively. Once good prospects have been identified, you are ready to jump on a call and convince them to do business with us.

Not every prospect will become a customer. We understand that. But if you don't sow, you can't harvest either. That is why at Rymax we look not only at the final new business results, but also at the commercial activity that comes before them. Here too, the same principle applies: everything starts with a solid plan and an overall strategy developed by you.

Who are we looking for?

We are not looking for a salesperson who would prefer to travel the world with a price list under their arm.

We are looking for a commercial entrepreneur.

Someone curious enough to research a market, analytical enough to develop a plan and commercial enough to get people on board.

You recognise yourself in the following:

  • you have an HBO level of working and thinking;
  • you have several years of experience in international B2B sales, export or account management;
  • you can develop a commercial relationship from a supplier-customer relationship into a true business partnership;
  • you are analytical and can translate market information into concrete commercial actions;
  • you are comfortable negotiating prices, margins, targets and commercial conditions;
  • you are results-oriented, but understand that sustainable growth requires time and planning;
  • you communicate excellently in English; additional languages are a definite plus;
  • you see international travel as an attractive part of your job;
  • you can work independently without operating as an individual;
  • experience in automotive, lubricants, aftermarket, chemicals or international distribution is a strong plus.

And you need to be able to handle a little resistance. Because market development sometimes also means telling a distributor that you expect more from them.

You get freedom. We expect ownership.

Rymax is not an organisation where every commercial decision first has to go through three layers of management. You get a lot of freedom to develop your markets and execute your own ideas.

But that comes with something in return.

We expect you to take ownership of your markets, results and development. To take initiative, look ahead, try to solve problems before they become problems and regularly ask yourself: can this be better?

At Rymax, we call this Improve by Challenge. Making mistakes is allowed. Standing still is less of a fit for us.

But you don't do it alone

Every Sales Manager works closely with an Account Manager.

You mainly focus on where we want to take a customer and a market. Your Account Manager ensures that the day-to-day commercial operation and customer experience are at the right level. This also means that you need to be able to let go of operational matters and trust your colleague.

Together, you are responsible for the same customer and the same result.

Why Rymax?

In a market full of oil giants, we are the challenger. And we like it that way.

Family company Rymax has grown from a Dutch lubricants company into an international brand with more than 300 products and customers in more than 65 countries. Not by being the biggest, but by being faster, sharper and bolder than the rest.

Where others sell oil, we build a brand. A brand with energy, guts and real character, carried with pride by distributors all over the world. We think big, move fast and dare to stand out in an industry that isn't used to it.

That takes people with the same drive. Here, you have real influence on how we conquer a country. An idea you discuss today, you set in motion tomorrow. And you sit directly at the table with entrepreneurs and distributors who are just as hungry as we are.

Lubricants, boring? Not the way we do it.

What do we offer you?

An international commercial role with a high degree of independence, responsibility and room for entrepreneurship.

You will work from our headquarters in Zevenaar and will also regularly travel internationally to visit distributors and prospects and attend training sessions and trade shows.

In addition, we offer:

  • Salary indication: €3,000 – €5.000
  • Bonus: annual bonus based on your performance and the company’s performance
  • Travel expenses: simply well arranged
  • Hours: preferably 40 hours per week
  • Holiday: 28 days and 8% holiday allowance
  • Pension: well arranged with an attractive pension contribution
  • Equipment: company laptop and phone
  • Hybrid working: working from home 1 day per week is fine with us, but not mandatory – we like having our colleagues in the office
  • Other benefits: company sports & outings, free daily lunch, bicycle scheme and much more
