The Morocco Desert Challenge has started its third stage. Time to make up the balance with the Rymax Racing Team.
The start on Saturday at Plage Blange was pretty good for all teams. The 4x4 Hilux Overdrive of Vincent Thijs came through in a very good way, finishing 8th out of the 77 Cars & Buggy's competing. Thijs was content with the pace of the car. Hermen Peene and Marnix Deibert were also happy. The first stage always takes some getting used to the buggy and each other but coming in at 13th place out of the 61 SSV cars made the team more than satisfied with the first day. Eimbert Timmermans made an impression with his truck exclusively wrapped in the Rymax colours. Nobody could ignore the big truck and it must gave been the biggest moving Rymax logo we have ever seen. Timmermans eventually finished 18th out of 34 trucks on Stage 1.
The second Stage took the Rymax Racing team from Abetteh to Smara over 402 km and deep into the Moroccan (Western) Sahara. It was a fast stage where the drivers really needed to stay focussed because of the high speed and very dusty conditions. Herman and Marnix in their Rymax SSV lost some time because of a bottom plate that came off and needed to be fixed. It set them back to the 46th position, knowing that it's only day 2 and everything can still happen. Vincent could really profit from the speed in this stage, moving up two positions to 6th in the Cars & Buggy's ranking. Also Eimbert was able to climb in the Morocco Desert Challenge ranking, and quite a big step too. From 18th to 13th position is an excellent result in the second stage.
